Ballet flats are an extremely versatile type of shoe that can complement just about any outfit in your closet.

When you find a particularly comfy pair, you won’t want to wear anything else on your feet.

Some ballet flats are, of course, a lot more comfortable than others.

Like many before you, you have probably heard a lot about Skechers’ BOBS ballet flats.

To determine if they are indeed worth it, we decided to try them out and make a detailed Skechers ballet flats review.

About Skechers

Skechers USA was launched in 1992 by Robert Greenberg, who was also the founder of L.A. Gear.

At its conception, the brand focused on skate shoes and utility boots.

From there, it grew very quickly in popularity, thanks to some clever advertising and celebrity endorsements.

Skechers now manufactures no less than 3,000 different styles of shoes to suit every age and activity.

Headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California, it is now the third-largest brand of athletic footwear in the United States.

It is well known for its emphasis on comfort, something you will surely love about the BOBS Plus, Peace and Love flats.

Skechers Ballet Flats Review

Skechers’ BOBS Plush, Peace and Love shoes have been on the market since 2010.

They have a great reputation for their effortless style, convenience, and comfort.

If those are things you want from your shoes, then these flats will definitely be a good addition to your wardrobe.

Who Is This Product For?

These shoes would look great on just about anyone.

Specifically, they are perfect for people looking for comfortable slip-on shoes they can wear all day without pinching and rubbing.

You will immediately notice that the design is fairly casual, so these shoes won’t work for more formal events.

Still, the classic nature of these Alpargata shoes does mean that they will pair well with most outfits.

What’s more, they will easily be suitable for different age groups from all walks of life.

If you sometimes struggle to find shoes in your size due to having small, large, or wide feet, you’ll love these Skechers flats.

Those with particularly narrow feet, however, might need to find another pair as they don’t come in narrow sizes.

The non-slip nature and comfort provided by these shoes also make them a great choice for older people.

These features significantly lower the risks of slipping over and breaking something.

What’s Included?

Your new BOBS shoes will arrive in a flip-top shoebox.

Inside each shoe are cardboard inserts to help them keep their shape while in transit.

They also have another cardboard layer to protect the memory foam insoles, as well as a silica gel packet to prevent moisture damage.

Overview of the Features

Let’s take a closer look at the main features of these Skechers BOBS to understand why they stand out from other flats.

  • Casual Alpargata Style

The Skechers BOBS Plush, Peace and Love flats showcase the classic look of alpargata shoes, known in some countries as espadrille.

The design lends effortless style to all of your casual and smart-casual outfits.

These shoes would be perfectly suitable to wear for visits to the park, shopping center, work, or out to lunch with the ladies.

You will find Skechers’ BOBS logo on the side and back of the shoe.

  • Slip-On Design

These shoes’ slip-on nature is very convenient for day-to-day wear, with no fiddly laces or buckles to deal with.

They also have a soft canvas upper with flexible goring wedges in the front to make them easier to slip on and off.

  • Canvas Uppers

The canvas uppers have a slight natural stretch to them that allows them to mold to the shape of your feet.

The upper also boasts a layered construction, which adds a nice touch of detail to an otherwise simple, classic design.

  • Flexible Rubber Sole

Traditionally, the sole of an alpargata shoe would have been made out of rope. This modern take on the design uses flexible rubber instead.

The rubber offers a better grip on wet and slippery surfaces, making these shoes a great choice for more active people.

People who might be a bit unsteady on their feet will also benefit from these, as the extra traction will make them less likely to suffer from a fall.

  • Supportive and Comfortable Insole and Midsole

As mentioned, BOBS shoes are well-known for being comfortable.

This is thanks to the memory foam cushioned insole, making you feel like you’re walking on clouds.

It’s not just the memory foam that contributes to these shoe’s supreme comfort, though.

They also feature shock-absorbing lightweight midsoles.

This means that the shoes offer your feet lumbar support, which is a rare find in flat shoes, especially ballet flats like this.

The memory foam will make the shoes comfortable to wear all day, but the midsole guarantees your feet have the support they need.

  • Large Variety of Sizes

Wearing the right size shoe contributes to the comfort of any shoes.

These Skechers BOBS flats have a fantastic variety of sizes to suit almost everybody. They are available in 25 different sizes, from a US five to a US 12.

Sizes five through nine all come in half sizes, and sizes five through 11 also come in wide, including all of those half sizes.

The flexible goring at the front of the shoe is also forgiving on slightly stouter feet.

It’s not often that you come across shoes that cater to both small and large feet, let alone wide or chubby feet.

On another note, Skechers seem to have abandoned the narrow feet market as none of their sizes are available in narrow.

  • Many Color Choices

The only drawback to being a wide, small, or large size is that you have fewer colors and patterns to choose from.

The more common sizes are available in up to 23 colors. However, if you have wide feet, they might be limited to just four.

  • Supports Charities

The Skechers BOBS brand, also known as BOBS for Dogs, has donated more than $6.2 million to animal organizations nationwide.

They have also donated millions of pairs of shoes to children who have been affected by poverty, homelessness, and disasters.

If you ask us, it certainly feels good to support a company that does so much to help others.

How to Get the Most Out of It

To get the most out of your Skechers BOBS, we recommend that you apply a protective spray before wearing them out of the house.

You can find waterproofing sprays in most shoe shops and online.

These will help protect the shoes from water and stains, keeping them looking new for longer.

Alternative

As mentioned, these BOBS flats are not really suitable for people with narrow feet.

So, we did some research to see if we could find something similar for people with narrow feet.

Eventually, we came across these canvas flats from PTHANN.

How do they differ from the Skechers BOBS? These PTHANN shoes are only available for narrow feet.

Remarkably, they look identical to the BOBS, but they are more affordable.

With a canvas upper, rubber outsole, memory foam insoles, and built-in arch support, they seem to be the same shoe with a different brand name stuck on.

Upon closer inspection, though, a few notable differences did come to light.

Firstly, despite being clearly labeled for narrow feet, they don’t seem to be a good fit for all narrow feet.

Some found the shoe canvas to be too loose, which causes the shoe to flop around when walking, slipping off the foot with each step.

In fact, the sizing seems to be a little inconsistent in all aspects, as the shoe length seems to run a little small, too.

As such, you might have to make a few returns before finding a pair that fits you well.

Secondly, they don’t appear to be as well-made as the BOBS flats, as the memory foam innersole becomes unstuck pretty quickly.

Once it is, it either folds itself in half or slides around under your foot.

Based on past experience, you know that this can make the shoe pretty uncomfortable after a while.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this Skechers ballet flats review proves that you don’t need to sacrifice comfort for fashion and style.

Their comfort makes them ideal for people who are on their feet all day, but their cute, classic style will flatter almost any outfit.

The shoes from PTHANN are a lot cheaper, true. The problem is, they just aren’t as well-made.

Because of this, you will be better off paying slightly more and getting the BOBS flats instead.

For one, the extra money will help animals and children. But aside from that, you will be the proud owner of one of the comfiest pairs of shoes in today’s market.
