Anne Heaton was born 1930 in India. She studied with Janet Cranmore in Birmingham 1937-43 and then with the Sadler’s Wells Ballet School. She made her debut with the Sadler’s Wells in 1945. She excelled in the romantic roles like in Les Sylphides at Covent Garden in 1948 and Giselle in 1954. She created the Woman in MacMillan’s The Burrow and the Wife in Invitation. In 1959 she resigned from the Royal Ballet due to foot injury and made only occasional guest appearances until 1962. She married Royal Ballet principal dancer John Field.
