Gudrun Bojesen Biography

Notable: Born 1976; Royal Danish Ballet

Gudrun Bojesen was born in Denmark in 1976. She trained by the Ballet School of the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen. She became an apprentice in 1992, and in 1994 she was engaged as a dancer in corps de ballet by the Royal Danish Ballet, where she was appointed soloist in 2000 and principal dancer in 2001.

She has danced a number of leading roles with the Royal Danish Ballet, including Tatiana in Onegin, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Hilda in A Folk Tale, the Pupil in The Lesson, Elisa in The Conservatoire and Eleonora in The Kermesse in Bruges, Title role in Caroline Mathilde, and further soloist roles in Etudes, Serenade, Tarantella, Turandot’s Dream and Jazz.

She has been awarded a number of prizes and grants, including the DANCE Grant in 1995, the Bartholin Foundation Grant in 1996, the Svenåge Larsen Grant in 1997, the Adeline Genee Grant, the Gotschalk Grant, the Bournonville Grant in 1999, and the Hans Beck Grant in 1999.
