Galina Mezentseva was born in Stravropol, Russia, in 1952. She studied at the Vaganova School and graduated
into the Kirov (Mariinsky) Ballet in 1970. Her fragility onstage made her especially well suited for
Giselle and the Romantic repertoire.
After twenty years as one of Kirov's leading dancers she left in 1990 and appeared as a guest artist with
the Scottish Ballet.
